Care

New to Child Care?

Leaving your child in someone else’s care can feel overwhelming.

At Kids on Collins, we aim to make the enrolment process smooth, engaging, and informative, ensuring both you and your child feel comfortable and at ease. Building trusting relationships with our families is at the core of our values. We offer free orientation sessions, allowing our educators to learn about your child’s routines, preferences, and interests. This also gives you and your child the opportunity to familiarise yourselves with the Centre environment and the educators who will be caring for them.

Orientation

During a detailed tour of the Centre, our Director will meet with families individually to share an overview of Kids on Collins’ philosophy and processes. Families will have the opportunity to meet the teaching team and ask any questions before their child’s enrolment begins. This step is essential in building the foundation for our collaborative relationship.

Respectful Relationships

Our Centre fosters the belief in building mutually respectful relationships. From an early age, it is extremely important for children to be exposed to role modelling of positive behaviours and interactions. Our team of educators and staff have a wealth of training and experience in providing positive behaviour guidance, thus ensuring a nurturing and harmonious environment for your child to learn and grow. Kindergarten-aged children are encouraged to discuss and take personal responsibility for developing boundaries of behaviour that are respectful. Consultation is made with parents on important issues, and our educators are always available for discussions. At Kids on Collins, we strive to ensure that all educators build positive, respectful relationships with each child, making them feel safe and supported in their environment.

We embrace the diversity of every child, taking into account their family and cultural values, age, and physical and intellectual development. By fostering strong, collaborative relationships with families, we aim to enhance learning and development outcomes for all children. We promote positive, respectful, and warm interactions between children and educators/staff at the Centre.

Each child is encouraged to learn and grow in a secure, empowering environment that upholds their dignity and rights. We support children in expressing themselves, sharing their opinions, and participating in experiences that nurture self-reliance and self-esteem. With a focus on the health, safety, and well-being of each child, we provide a safe, secure, and welcoming space where they can thrive and learn.

Nutrition

Each day, your child receives 50-75% of their daily nutritional needs through a nutrient-rich menu featuring a variety of culturally diverse Halal dishes. Kids on Collins provides all meals and snacks throughout the day, including a delicious hot dinner served between 5-5:30 pm. Our monthly rotating menus are endorsed by Nutrition Australia and are carefully designed to meet children’s nutritional requirements. Our qualified chef ensures that all allergies and dietary needs are accommodated. For the health and safety of all children, we ask that no food be brought into the Centre, except for breast milk and formula.

Immunisation

From January 2016, all Centres operating under the Education and Care Centre National Law ‘No Jab, No Play’ legislation, will require all new enrolling children

to be up to date with their immunisations in line with the Department of Health immunisation schedule.

Child Protection

Kids on Collins is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all children. We believe that ensuring the safety of children is our top priority and are dedicated to safeguarding their right to be free from any form of abuse. If there are reasonable grounds to believe that a child has been harmed or is at risk of harm, our teaching team is ethically obligated to take action to protect their safety and well-being.
